RaspberryPiでサーバを起てるとSDが頻繁に壊れるのでUSBドライブ起動を考え手持ちの40G IDE→USBで試すとすとんなりSDからの移行ができたので、もう少し容量の大きいものが欲しいなと・・・・

繋ぎたくないかなと思い先日当ブログでも書いた通り中古HDDを購入して試行錯誤していましたが今日やっと問題解決にいたりました。
結論から言うと、SATA→USB3.0が原因でした。
他の方のブログなどで拝見したのですが、かなりの確率で起動しないのが実情のようです。
今回使用していた玄人志向の製品は安くネットでの評判も悪くなかったのですが、RaspberryPiとの相性は悪いようです。
同じ玄人志向の製品でも起動するものもあるのかもしれないですけど、かったっぱしから買って試すわけにも行かずさてどうしたものか・・・・

今回起動に成功したのはTV録画用に購入した3.5インチ用HDDケースです。
3.5インチHDDを外して2.5インチHDDと挿し変えて使いました。

3.5インチ用なので、電源がキチキチのRaspberryPiにはぴったりのACアダプタからの電源供給！！
ただ無駄にでかい！！！ Piと一緒にケース（100均のB5 書類入れ）に収めるにはちょっと困るね・・・
それとSD起動と比べるとちょっと遅くなりますね（BOOT遅延もあるけどロードも遅いね）

玄人志向の製品もRaspberryPiから電源を取っていなかったので、HDDのスピンアップは原因ではなくて
RaspberryPiがUSBインタフェースを初期化したときHDD側の初期化が間に合っていないようです。
USBインターフェス初期化までに遅延と、初期化後もRaspberryPiは待ってくれているようですが間に合わないものもあるということなのかな？
この辺がうまくチューニングされると多くのUSBドライブが起動可能になる日が来るのかな？？

ほぼ順調に動いているが、端末側からrebootをかけると立ち上がらない
